First Lady Erdoğan meets with Members of UK Parliament and representatives of Global Somali Diaspora

First Lady Emine Erdoğan, who is accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in London, met with Members of UK Parliament and representatives of the Global Somali Diaspora.

Multiculturalism, improving diversity as well as the situation of refugees were discussed during the meeting at the residence of Turkish Embassy in London. Underscoring that Turkey hosts the most refugees in the world, First Lady Erdoğan said that Turkey, with its attitude, gives the best response to the increasing xenophobia in the world.

Member of the House of Lords from the Conservative Party, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Labor Party MPs Yasmin Qureshi and Naz Shah and Member of the House of Lords from the Liberal Democrat Party, Lord Qurban Hussain, were present at the meeting.

MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF GLOBAL SOMALI DIASPORA

First Lady Erdoğan also met with representatives of the Global Somali Diaspora.

Underlining that the future of Somalia is directly connected to the Somali diaspora, First Lady Erdoğan said that the Somali people must always keep in mind the idea of serving their country. Recalling that Turkey provides all kinds of support for Somalia’s development, Mrs. Erdoğan mentioned projects on education, healthcare and women’s development. The First Lady said: “The main purpose of the aid we provide to Somalia is to help it become self-sustained.”

Representatives of the Global Somali Diaspora thanked for Turkey’s support to Somalia and informed First Lady Erdoğan of their activities.
