First Lady Emine Erdoğan met with African countries’ ambassadors to Türkiye, their spouses, and members of the African Culture House during the African House event held at the Presidential Complex to mark the International Volunteer Day.
Humanity’s biggest and eternal aspiration is for the world to become an abode of benevolence, peace and justice, the First Lady said in her speech at the event, noting that it is possible to realize this aspiration if people band together.
First Lady Erdoğan stated: “Both our world and our future become more beautiful if we increase our acts of benevolence. In this regard I believe that Türkiye opened a new chapter in the history of the world with its African Initiative Policy.”
Drawing attention to Türkiye’s human-oriented foreign policy, First Lady Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye has always been an affectionate power. “Our institutions such as TIKA, AFAD, Turkish Red Crescent and Maarif Foundation have exerted concrete efforts for Africa’s development. They have offered services in a wide range of areas from healthcare to education. They have provided durable support for political, social and economic change. What is more, Türkiye has become Africa’s voice in the international arena, working for the establishment of peace and stability in the continent. Our entrepreneurs have also made investments in Africa that would serve as the key to development. Over 14 thousand African students have benefited from Türkiye scholarships so far, bringing knowledge and experience to their home countries. The active, multidimensional and enterprising foreign policy of our country shows that countries can also endeavor for the common benefit of humanity, setting aside their own interests.”
